A word with Al Hobbs xx.08.2006

Al Hobbs has travelled from Montana in the USA to take part in this WC. He is a long term leader in the US NAMBA association and has been involved in our sport for many years:

Name: Alan Hobbs

Country: USA

City: Cascade, Montana

When did you get started with model speed boats:

It must have been 1971.

What made you start with this hobby:

I always liked model  boats. When I was able to get a reliable radio control I built my first RC speed boat. It was a flat bottom SK design.

What does your wife say about your hobby:

That it keeps me off the streets... :-)

Your best race:

Definitely the 3rd heat in the 1981 NAMBA  Nationals in the C mono class. I won that heat and was in the lead for the title in that class, only had to finish the next heat to win.

Your worst race:

Definitely the 4th heat in the 1981 NAMBA  Nationals in the C mono class. Only needed to finish the heat to be NAMBA champion, I was not champion after the heat...

What would you be doing if not model speed boats:

I really don't know, maybe I would be on the streets... :-)
